Thursday Movie Picks; Movies Based on True Events

It  is a new Thursday, which means a new Thursday Movie Picks post, thanks to the blog Wandering Through The Shelves. The theme of this week was movies based on true events and here is my picks.

Hotel Rwanda; It tells a bit about the genocide in Rwanda

Pearl Harbour; It tells about the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbour

12 Years a Slave; It tells the tale about a free man who got abducted and turned  into a slave

  2. Not a Pearl Harbour fan - but I like the song about it in Team America. 12 Years a Slave is a film I should watch but cant bring myself to as I can't watch a character in a helpless state throughout. Hotel Rwanda is one I need to watch.

    1. I can't argue against the not wanting to watch something due to a character in a helpless state. I read the book before I saw the movie and the reading the book was kind of worse. :-S

  3. I've seen all three and consider Hotel Rwanda the best of the 3. It should have won Don Cheadle the Oscar....riveting and very scary. Pearl Harbour was ok but I prefer From Here to Eternity and Tora , Tora, Tora more. 12 Years a Slave is also good but I wasn't bawled over by it

    1. I saw Hotel Rwanda the first time during high school and it was not comfortable to watch to put it that way.
